Payment & Financing Options.

CALM DOWN KIDS offers several ways to pay for services so that families can find the option that fits their budget, insurance situation, and preferred level of convenience.

We understand that every family’s financial situation looks a little different, and navigating payment options for your child’s care can feel confusing or overwhelming. To make things easier, we’ve built several flexible ways to pay for services so you can choose the option that best matches your budget, your insurance benefits, and the level of simplicity you prefer. Whether you want a straightforward private-pay approach, need help using out-of-network insurance, or prefer a structured monthly payment plan, our goal is to make high-quality support accessible without added stress.

What are the different payment options?

Private Pay

You pay for services out of pocket at the time of service. No insurance involvement.

Out-of-Network (OON) With Superbills

You pay for sessions upfront, and we provide a monthly superbill you can submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement based on your OON benefits.

Out-of-Network (OON) Through Thrizer

Thrizer is a billing service that acts as a middle step. You pay only your estimated co-insurance, and Thrizer pays us directly. They then handle the reimbursement process with your insurance.

CareCredit

A healthcare credit line that allows you to spread the cost of assessments or therapy over time with monthly payments. Some plans offer 0% interest promotional periods.

Private Pay (Self-Pay)

Best for:Families who want maximum flexibility, do not want a diagnosis shared with insurance, or have HSA/FSA funds they can use.

Pros

Full privacy — no diagnosis required for reimbursement
No limits on number of sessions or service type
    No insurance delays
You stay in complete control of your child’s care

Cons

    Higher upfront cost
    Not eligible for insurance reimbursement

How to sign up:Sign your Good Faith Estimate. You will be automatically charged after each session using the credit or debit card you placed on file. HSA/FSA cards can also be used.
A Good Faith Estimate is a document required under the No Surprises Act that outlines the expected cost of your care over a specific period. We provide an updated estimate every 3 months so you always have a clear understanding of the anticipated number of sessions, the projected fees, and how your treatment plan may impact your budget. This is not a bill—just a transparent estimate to help you plan ahead.

Out-of-Network (OON) With Superbills

Best for:Families with PPO insurance plans and OON benefits who don’t mind doing their own submissions and waiting for reimbursement.

Pros

Many PPO plans reimburse a significant portion
You can choose your provider even if they're not in network
You get the potential cost savings and freedom

Cons

    You pay full fees upfront
    Reimbursement is not guaranteed
Insurance reimbursement can take 2–8+ weeks
Requires you to manage submission and follow-ups

How to sign up:Simply begin services as normal. On the 10th of each month, we send you a superbill automatically. You submit it to your insurance via your member portal.

Out-of-Network (OON) Through Thrizer
